Starting at the Tom Harkin Trail Head, this segment connects the Clear Creek Trail System to businesses and residential areas along Highway 6. In addition, this segment provides access to business and a recently developed residential neighborhood along Camp Cardinal Road.

A topographic survey from Hwy 6 to the Tom Harkin Trailhead was performed. This survey included setting vertical and horizontal control points and mapping all existing features, contours, and utilities. A field pin search was performed to identify right-of-way lines and individual property lines. This data was used to create temporary construction easements and permanent easements. Construction staking marked trail edge, storm sewer, ADA ramps, back of curb, and the retaining wall.
